In brief
In cosmetic microneedling, the skin is treated with very fine needles to a precisely limited depth. The skin responds to these stimuli with its own renewal processes. At the same time, the fine channels absorb active ingredients much better than the closed horny layer.
Cosmetic microneedling works at superficial depths. Deeper applications belong in medical hands – that isn't modesty but the limit of the profession, and I stick to it.
It is often requested for an uneven complexion, enlarged pores and fine lines. Whether it's the right treatment in your case, I can only tell by looking at your skin.
How the appointment works
- Detailed information
We go through the contraindications together and clarify what to expect in the days after the treatment. If anything speaks against it, I won't treat – even if the appointment is booked.
- Cleansing and disinfection
The skin is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected. Hygiene is not a side issue with this treatment; you'll find my hygiene certificate for cosmetic professions on the home page.
- Resting time
Before the actual treatment, the skin needs a resting time. This time is built into the appointment and is not cut short.
- Needling in strips
The handpiece is guided in overlapping strips. It feels like a fine vibration with a light scratching; I control the intensity via the needle depth.
- Active ingredients and soothing
Immediately afterwards, suitable active ingredients are applied, followed by a soothing compress and protection for the next few hours.
Afterwards: results and care
After the treatment the skin is clearly red, similar to sunburn, and feels tight. That is to be expected and usually subsides within one to two days. So don't schedule the appointment right before an important occasion.
For the first 24 hours: no make-up, no touching with unwashed hands, no sport, no sauna. Consistent sun protection for at least two weeks, even on cloudy days. At the end of the appointment you'll be told exactly which care to use during this time.
Microneedling works over time, not on the same evening. Usual intervals between two sessions are several weeks, because the skin needs that time.
- Uneven complexion and enlarged pores
- Fine lines on face, neck and décolleté
- When active ingredients should be absorbed better
- Not suitable with inflamed skin, acute infections or during pregnancy
There are situations in which a treatment cannot take place – for example with inflamed skin, acute infections, certain medications or during pregnancy. The full overview is in the treatment notes. If you are unsure, ask via WhatsApp before your appointment – it costs you nothing and saves us both a wasted trip.
Frequently asked questions
Usually one to two days, a little longer with sensitive skin. So don't schedule the appointment right before a wedding, a photo shoot or a party – a week before is better.
No. Cosmetic microneedling works at superficial depths. Deeper applications are reserved for medical practitioners. I work within the cosmetic framework and will tell you openly if your concern doesn't fit within it.
You can feel it. Most people describe a fine vibration with a light scratching, more intense on the forehead and nose than on the cheeks. I control the intensity during the treatment, and you tell me if it becomes too much.
For 24 hours: no make-up, no sport, no sauna and no swimming pool. Consistent sun protection for at least two weeks. Everything else is in the treatment notes.
In principle yes, but then the sun protection afterwards really has to be right. If you're going on holiday within two weeks of the appointment, we'd better postpone it.
