In brief
In RF lifting, the tissue is warmed from within by high-frequency alternating fields. The warmth acts where the collagen fibres lie. During the treatment the skin feels warm, similar to a hot stone massage, and its surface remains intact.
In the studio I work both bipolar and multipolar: bipolar for finer areas such as around the eyes, multipolar for larger areas such as cheeks, neck or a body zone. On the face, the treatment finishes with a carboxy active mask.
Important up front: radiofrequency is no substitute for surgery, and I can only say anything reliable about the result once I've seen your skin. What the treatment does can be described – what it will do for you can't be predicted in advance.
How the appointment works
- Information and contraindications
With radiofrequency this step is not a formality. Together we go through anything that could speak against a treatment – metal implants, a pacemaker, pregnancy, certain conditions and medications.
- Cleansing and contact gel
The skin is cleansed, then a contact gel is applied over which the handpiece glides.
- Warm-up phase
I increase the energy slowly and keep checking how the warmth feels for you. Pleasantly warm is right – it is not hot.
- Treatment zone by zone
Each zone is held at temperature for a set time. That is the actual core of the treatment and needs calm; hence the 60 minutes.
- Carboxy mask and finish
On the face this is followed by a carboxy active mask, then the finishing care and sun protection.
Afterwards: results and care
Immediately after the treatment the skin is usually red and warm; both generally subside within a few hours. Part of the effect of radiofrequency shows not immediately but over weeks – which is why a single session is rarely the end of the story.
For the first two days please avoid sauna, sunbeds, hot baths and exfoliation. Sun protection in the following days is a must, not a recommendation.
Typical courses consist of several sessions at fixed intervals. How many make sense for you – and whether any do – we'll discuss at the first appointment. If I think another treatment would do more for you, I'll say so.

There are situations in which a treatment cannot take place – for example with inflamed skin, acute infections, certain medications or during pregnancy. The full overview is in the treatment notes. Frequently asked questions
Yes. Since the German Ordinance on Protection against Non-Ionising Radiation (NiSV), this treatment may only be carried out with certified expertise. You can see my certificate for EMF radiofrequency devices in cosmetics on the home page, and the original in the studio.
